MLB Baseball Betting: Washington Nationals at Atlanta Braves
Two National League East teams that entered the season expecting much better results will go at it on Tuesday night as the Atlanta Braves host the Washington Nationals at Turner Field. The Nationals were still in the thick of the playoff hunt until recently but have now been eliminated and are just playing out the string. They’ve split wins and losses in their last ten games. The Braves aren’t quite so fortunate–they’ve had a miserable season. One of the few consolations is that they’ve managed to pull themselves out of contention for the worst record in baseball–the Philadelphia Phillies just about have that locked up.
It’ll be a matchup of mediocre right handers tonight as Washington’s Tanner Roark locks up with Atlanta’s Matt Wisler. Roark has a 5.64 ERA in 10 starts this season with his road ERA at 5.23. The Nats have lost 6 of his 10 starts overall and 4 of his 6 road assignments. They’ve also lost his last three starts as Roark has turned in a bloated 6.75 ERA. Wisler’s numbers are better though not substantially so. He’s got a 5.52 ERA in 17 starts where Atlanta has gone 7-10. He’s put up a credible effort at Turner Field where he’s got a 3.80 ERA and Atlanta has won 4 of his 7 starts. They’ve lost 2 of his last 3 starting appearances.
The Nationals have brutalized Atlanta this season with a 13-3 record in head to head games. Their fortunes at Turner Field have not been that good and they’ve split 6 road games against the Braves. It’s worth noting that Washington’s previous series in Atlanta was earlier in the campaign before the Braves’ season imploded. Credit to Washington for continuing to exert an effort. We’ll back the Nationals as they have the better ‘pedigree’ in this matchup.
